A speech-language pathologist (SLP) is a highly trained professional who evaluates and treats children and adults who have difficulty with speech or language.  Although people often think of speech and language as the same thing, the terms actually have very different meanings. 

Some children have trouble with speech, struggling with the "how to" of talking --the coordination of the muscles and movements necessary to produce speech.  If your child has trouble with language, he/she struggles with understanding what he/she hears or sees.  Your child may struggle to find the right words and/or organize those words in a meaningful way to communicate a message or hold a conversation. 

Nicole Charles holds a Master of Arts in communication sciences and disorders from Long Island University.  She is also a certified Teacher of children with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSLD).  She is a New York state licensed and ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) certified speech-language pathologist.  She has been working in the field of school based speech-language pathology for over 15 years.

She has worked with children of all ages from birth-21 years.  She aims to provide indirect therapy services through private email consultations and educate the public on various topics regarding speech/language skills and strategies.

Why is an email consult beneficial to you?  

As a client, an email gives you the convenience to present your concerns anytime of the day or night, potentially making it easier for those whose circumstances might make it difficult for them to consult with a speech and language provider during the working hours.  Furthermore, an email can serve as a running log of information received for later reference.

Emails allow me, as your consulting speech-language pathologist, to direct you to sources of information and products on the internet that I feel might be helpful.  The knowledge and resources you are given are judged to be accurate and appropriate for your individual situation.

Email consults provide the chance to share information, promote appropriate communication skills, and interact with patients, caregivers, students, and colleagues.  The cost of a consultation is $20 for each question regarding one topic.  Contact me and complete an order form to schedule a consultation and receive an invoice for my services.
